活动内容摘要:

topological edge states, which are well known for gapless dispersion and the one-way transport, have been extensively studied in electronic, photonic, and acoustic systems in recent years. there are relatively few studies on the bulk states, since they are usually considered to be trivial. recent results suggest that bulk states can also be nontrivial and have chiral band structures. in this report, i will introduce three different ways [1-3] by constructing the heterostructures or modifying the boundary of the crystal to construct the chiral bulk states, which obey the corresponding transport rules, and are robust to defects. compared with the edge states, the chiral bulk states have a designable size, which are more flexible for interfacing with the existing devices and may serve as versatile new devices for wave manipulation, such as splitting, reflection-free guiding and converging.

主讲人基本情况:

王暮迪,2014年和2019年于武汉大学物理科学与技术学院获得本科、博士学位。现为香港科技大学物理系博士后。主要研究领域为声子/光子晶体中的拓扑物理,目前以第一作者在physical review letters (3篇), nature communications(2篇)等国际知名期刊发表多篇sci论文,相关成果曾被science作为研究亮点进行报道。
