reconfigurable antennas can alter their characteristics according to varyingenvironments. theyhave emerged as an important technology that can significantlyimprove the system performance such as data rates and link connectivityfor future b5g and 6g wireless technologies.currently, reconfigurable antenna technologies are a hot topic in both academia and industry. to this end,thetalk today will present the fundamental concepts and latest developments on reconfigurable antennas. in particular, a number of our innovative reconfigurable antenna technologies will be introduced and discussed, including the novel polarization- and/or pattern-reconfigurable designs for both element antennas and series-feed array antennas. antenna prototypes with simulated and measured performance characteristics will be presented to validate these technologies.

主讲人基本情况

dr shulin chen was born in hubei province, china. he received the ph.d. degree in engineering from the university of technology sydney (uts), australia, in 2019. from sep. 2019 to sep. 2022, he was a postdoctoral researcher with the global big data technologies centre (gbdtc), uts, where he is currently appointed as a lecturer. dr chen’s research interests include reconfigurable antennas, millimetre-wave and terahertz antennas, and array pattern synthesis. he received the outstanding master's thesis of fujian province in 2015. he was a co-recipient for a number of international conference paper awards, including the honorable mention award in 2017 ieee ap-s/ursi, best paper award finalists in 2017 isap, best paper award in 2018 isape, first prize of student paper in 2021 aces, and best young professional award in 2022 isap. he was awarded the 2022 eucap ticra-euraap travel grant and the 2022 ieee antennas and propagation society (ap-s) fellowship. dr chen served as lead guest editor of special section on “advanced beam-forming antennas for beyond 5g and 6g” in ieee open journal of antennas and propagation.
